Team Rules:

TEAM SIZE:
There are 4 players maximum on the court at one time. There must be at least 2 females on the court.

ROSTER:
There is a 6 player maximum number of players allowed on your roster. Players will not be allowed to participate without signing the League waiver/roster. Teams must DROP a player(s) before they can add a player(s), up to the 3rd week. Rosters are frozen after last game of the 3rd week. Additional roster sheets will be available for adding players that were not at the first game.

PLAYER RESTRICTIONS:
All players in the must be 20 years old when the season starts. Teams will forfeit all games if this rule has been broken. OCSSC will have the right to request ID from any player throughout the regular and/or play-off season.

PLAYER PARTICIPATION:
Players can only play on one team. Player(s) that break this rule will cause their team(s) to forfeit all games that were participated in. (Forfeit fine will also be assessed).

GAME TIME:
All games must start on time, no exceptions.

FORFEITS:
If a team does not have the minimum number of players by game time, they must still start the game. If the minimum number of players do not show up 10 minutes after game time, a forfeit will be called.

FORFEIT FINES:
If a team does not have the minimum number of players by game time, a $30 forfeit fine will be assessed. This is awarded to the opposing team in the form of a Bar Tab! Teams that receive a forfeit fine must use it the following week or lose it. (No, carry over). If a team e-mails the OCSSC by 5pm of the preceding day, no fine will be assessed. This will allow the opposing coach to inform his team of the impending forfeit. All fines must be paid before your next scheduled game.

GAME EQUIPMENT:
The League will supply all for each field.

SCORE KEEPING:
Teams will self Ref & keep score. Upon disagreement, the point will be replayed. The game score will be announced by the server prior to each serve. Failure to do so & have it accepted by the opposing team will result in loss of service.

SPORTSMANSHIP:
Sportsmanship: “Conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports, especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing.” Any League members that do not conduct themselves (on or off the field) in a manner other then described above can/will be removed from the league. If a staff member believes a player should be removed, a meeting between me, the coaches involved & the staff member will occur to discuss removal. If player(s) or team(s) are involved in a fight, they will be banned from the League for life.

CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Please take your team back to our sponsor bar for the SOCIAL part of the League. Keep reminding your players that this is a very SOCIAL league and unsportsmanlike conduct will ensure them a seat on the bench or a view from the outside looking in.

VOLLEYBALL RULES:

MATCH / GAME / SCORE:
Matches are best of 3 games to 21 using rally scoring (win by two, no cap). The third game, if needed, is played to 15 using rally scoring (win by two, no cap). It is the responsibility of the receiving side to make a judgment on the point. If the third game is played the teams switch side whenever a team scores 8 points (not a combination of 8 points, but when only one team gets 8 points). The Match has a 1 Hour time limit. If 1 team wins 2 quick games, they win the match but the teams are expected to hold court for as many games as you can in the hour. The League will help change opponents as other matches finish.

START OF PLAY:
Teams will "Coin Toss" (aka rock, paper, sissors) for selection of side or serve. No open-hand receiving on serves. Again, any disagreements on a point will be replayed.

TIME OUTS:
Each team is allowed one (one-minute) time-out per game. No carryovers.

GENDER RULE:
A woman must hit the ball before it is returned over the net, unless the ball goes back over on the first hit. A gender fault will occur (side out) if this does not happen.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
After each side out, players must rotate from the front-right position to the back-right position to serve. Substitutions can ONLY be made at this point in the rotation. The substitute must go to the back-right position to serve taking the front right player's spot in the rotation. All substituting players/equipment must be positioned behind the end line. No players/equipment will be allowed on the sidelines or between any court.

BALL "IN":
The ball is "in" when it touches the floor of the playing court including the boundary lines.

BALL "OUT":
A ball is "out" when the part of the ball which contacts the floor is completely outside the boundary line, touches any object outside the court, touches the rope, post, net, etc., outside of the sidelines.

TEAM HITS:
The team is entitled to a maximum of three hits for returning the ball. If more are used, the team commits the fault of "four hits". The hits of the team include not only intentional hits, but also unintentional hits. A player may not hit the ball two times consecutively. The ball may touch any part of the body. The ball must be hit, not caught and/or thrown. The ball may touch various parts of the body only if the contact take place simultaneously. Contact on a block counts as 1 touch

. A player touches the ball or an opponent in the opponent’s space before or during the opponents hit.

SERVICE:
. When the serving team wins the rally, the player who served before serves again.
. When the receiving team wins the rally, it gains the right to serve and rotates before actually serving. The player moves from the front right position to the back right position to serve. (aka, clockwise)
. No receiving player may leave his or her feet to block a serve.
. The server must not touch the end line or a "foot" fault will be called.

BLOCKING:
. Blocking is the action of players close to the net trying to intercept the ball coming from the opponent’s side.
. A block contact is counted as a team hit, and a team is entitled to two more hits to return the ball.
. The first hit after the block may be executed by any player, including the one who blocked the ball.

PLAYER(S) EJECTION:
. Any excessive attack hit deemed unsportsmanlike by the referees.
. General unsportsmanlike conduct towards opponent, referee, etc.
