About Us

Company Bio

As many are, I am a transplant to OC. I moved here from Baltimore in the fall of '05 to make a fresh start with the idea for a business I had developed on the east coast. Upon the realization that I knew almost nobody in the area I began looking for the local "Sport & Social Club", an organization that existed in many cities across the U.S. In fact I had assisted the owner of the Baltimore Sport & Social Club. There was no such organization here! I began playing in the Huntington Beach softball league where I became friends with Mike. We noticed that our team may get together after the game but we still wanted to become friends with the people we played against. I decided to found the OCSSC based on the one I knew from Baltimore where each team plays 1 hour before everyone goes to the same sponsor bar for social activity.
The OCSSC began with Spring Football in '06. We had 6 teams registered but only 4 consistently showing up. Knowing we had the right idea & just needed time to grow, we continued with a weekday evening summer Volleyball season. In the fall we returned to football with 8 teams & only 1 was flaky. Since then the football group grows by about half from one season to the next and we are adding new activities all the time.

Gus:

Orange County Sports & Social Club is owned and operated by Peter Mundth (Gus), a former High School, College, and recreational athlete and graphic designer. A large part of Peter’s professional experience was to give the customer an excellent product at a fair price, and he continues to apply that same quality and customer service driven work ethic to the Orange County SSC. His goal is to ensure that participants get the most out of the best sports and social league in town. After more than 15 years of coaching and playing in many different sports, Peter knows firsthand the value of friendships made through sports—friendships that have lasted longer than any memory of games won or lost.

Mike:

I consider myself to be a local although I was born and lived a short 8 years (96'-04) in the N suburbs of Chicago. I grew up with a family that loves sports including myself. Playing 15 years of organized baseball and 6 years of organized Basketball. I found that I liked many other sports helping organize monthly coed flag football, volleyball, and softball games. I than was introduced while helping manage 2 Huntington Beach coed softball teams to the Orange County Sport And Social Club by Gus. This was a great opportunity to really break into sports and also make great friends at the same time. I'm excited about the future of OCSSC because we have just started and we plan on many new social events and the many new ideas for other sports to be added.
